Jamie Walton is a rising international soloist who has given concerts throughout much of Europe, the USA and UK in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls and festivals. He appears regularly at the Wigmore Hall in London and Symphony Hall, Birmingham.
In 2005 Jamie and his pianist Daniel Grimwood were personally invited by Maestro Lorin Maazel to perform for his prestigious Chateauville Foundation in Virginia, USA. Jamie then joined the Wihan Quartet for their 20th Anniversary concert at the Rudolfinum in Prague. His debut commercial CD of the Chopin and Rachmaninov sonatas (SOMM Recordings) was selected into the Telegraph Top 10 CDs of the year 2002 and since then his recordings have accumulated unanimous praise, most notably his recent CD of the Saint-Saëns cello concertos with the Philharmonia, which was the Telegraph CD of the week, and also listed as one of their top CDs of 2006, Classic FM Magazine Orchestral CD of the month and Radio 3’s Listening Booth.
2008 saw the release of Jamie’s second concerto CD of both Elgar and Miaskovsky’s masterworks on the renowned Signum Classics Label. Receiving rave reviews across board Jamie’s Elgar concerto is performed regularly on Classic FM. October 2008 will see the release of the third concerto CD coupling Shostakovich’s Concerto No. 2 and Britten’s Cello Symphony, once again on Signum Classics with the Philharmonia under Briger.
Engagements in 2009 include a tour to Australia and New Zealand and further concerts throughout Europe
