Jonathan Cooke Limited was contracted in January 2005 to manage, prepare and arrange the publicity and public relations for the period up to and during this new Shropshire Festival. We worked closely with the organizers and performers of the EGMF, creating contacts and arranging interviews with the local media. We also raised public awareness of the Festival through the television network, on national radio and copy in the national press and specialist publications.
Jonathan Cooke Limited also worked on a campaign with the local brewery — Woods Brewery — developing and brewing a special festival ale named Merrie England after one of German’s most popular compositions. Each pint sold contributed to the funding of the Festival. Jonathan Cooke Limited worked closely with international cellist Julian Lloyd Webber who was a performer and patron of the EGMF. He is pictured above pulling a pint of Merrie England in The Old Town Vaults Public House, Whitchurch: birthplace of Sir Edward German.
